About Formby Ladies Golf Club

Formby Ladies' is a vibrant club with approximately 350 female members.

As an independent Ladies' Club, we are in the unique position of being able to run competitions whenever we choose.  In addition, therefore, to running competitions during the week, we have more than 30 competitions at weekends, which is of great benefit to our working members. Moreover, as we have deliberately limited the number of evening presentations, members can play weekday competitions in the evenings during the summer months.

We run several teams for our competitive golfers: a Scratch Team, two Handicap Teams, two Bronze Teams, and the 3rd Team.   We also run a Seniors’ Team which plays most of the local clubs, and the Millennium Links Team, who play for the Millennium Links Trophy.  This Trophy is competed for by Formby Ladies’, Royal Birkdale, Royal Liverpool, Wallasey, Hillside, West Lancashire, Southport & Ainsdale, and Hesketh.

We have weekly and weekend counting competitions throughout the year.  During the winter there is less organised golf but the regular Thursday and weekend competitions continue together with our ‘Turkey Trot’ and Eclectic competitions.

For those ladies who are new to the club or new to golf we have a monthly Monday morning brunch club where, as the name suggests, members turn up for brunch and a draw is made for golf partners.  In addition, during the winter months we have “turn up and play golf” every Wednesday morning.  Both these types of golf are organised to help new members get to know other members.

Competition and friendly Bridge is played regularly and the Bridge section runs 2 teams who play against other local Clubs.

We are very proud to be an independent Ladies’ Club and we  have an excellent relationship with our neighbours, Formby Golf Club and share golf competitions and social events with them throughout the year.

We warmly welcome both ladies and gentlemen as visitors to the club and full catering can be provided outside our normal opening hours for larger visiting parties.

The Club is keen to encourage more ladies into golf. Lessons are available from our professional and our secretary, Mrs Anne Bromley is happy to discuss the conditions of Club membership.
