The Course

No less a golfing figure than Greg Norman had this to say. "Over 100 years old and still your course can stand the test of time. What a beautiful course. It clearly shows that courses do not have to be 7,000 yards plus to be formidable."

Malcolm Gregson ex - Ryder Cup Player and European Seniors Tour Pro said "A wonderful, testing course, with a premium on accuracy!. With a homely club house and fine catering. Formby Ladies Golf Club is altogether an ideal venue for Golf Societies or Corporate Golf Days".

Set amongst the pine trees and sand dunes of the Lancashire Coast, the course provides a wonderfully varied challenge to the visitor.

From the red markers, the course is 5,374 yards (4,914 metres) with a Standard Scratch Score of 72.

Its tight fairways and smaller greens demand skill and precision from golfers of all levels. Indigenous heather protects much of the rough and great caution is required at many holes.

There is splendid contrast to be found on the Formby Ladies course. The par 3 holes are some of the most difficult you could wish to play anywhere.

Several holes have elevated tees providing excellent views over much of the course and towards the Irish Sea.

Those holes lying on the flat landward side entice players into error by their misleading air of innocence; while the picturesque adventurous holes lying among the sandhills and the pine woods provide "mental as well as physical" hazards!

Formby Ladies lies in the central area of the property owned by the acclaimed Formby Golf Club. The latter is a championship golf course and is available to vistors every day, except on competition days, including weekends
